Harold L. "Hal"  Dolinger
Harold (Hal) L. Dolinger 83, of Airville PA, died on 25 September 2017 in his home. He was married to Darla (Stanley, Sommer) Dolinger, and they had celebrated 15 years together.

Harold is survived by two sons: Randall (Ran) Dolinger and wife, Abigale of Lillington NC, Donald Dolinger and wife, Margaret of Charlottesville, VA, a daughter Margaret (Doli) Dolinger of Pursellville, VA.
Children through marriage: a son John W. Sommer, Sr. of Delta, PA, daughter Robin (Sommer) Rettburg and husband, William of Bel Air, MD, daughter Jane (Sommer) Skelton and husband, Lee of Airville, PA. A half-sister Nealie Little of Abingdon, VA as well as grandchildren: John W. Sommer, III; Jeffery, Joshua, Trinity (Sanders) Christopher, Joel, Drew and Daniel. Great grandchildren are Krystine, Keith, Kaleb, Delila, Aidan, Parker, David and Paxton. Harold was preceded in death by his two brothers, Thomas and James.

Harold was born 28 April 1934 in Chilhowie, VA and was the eldest son of the late James and Clara (Sturgill) Dolinger. He graduated from the former Stewartstown High School in 1952 and enjoyed regular reunions with classmates. He was employed by General Electric as a Systems Engineer for whom he worked 29 years. While there, he was a test pilot and worked on the Hubble. In earlier years, he operated a tv repair shop near Stewartstown, participated in obtaining census information and was a former scout master in Charlestown Township PA.

Harold designed and built his retirement home on the hill near Muddy Creek, worked on anything with a motor, was always studying and completed via Skype a course in Hebrew. He loved to garden and played the guitar and mandolin.

Harold was a member of Mt Olivet United Methodist Church where he taught Sunday School, served in various positions in the church and sang in the choir for years.

Services will be on Saturday, October 7, 2017 at Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church, 786 Mt. Olivet Church Road, Fawn Grove, PA 17321, with a viewing from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. followed immediately with the funeral service. Interment will be in the adjoining cemetery, with a fellowship afterwards in the church hall. Pastor Tim Kline will offciate
